About Us
Prescription Music was founded in 2001 by Steve and Linda Toll.  At that time Prescription Music was delivering therapeutic music performances in various institutions around the country.  It became clear that the beneficial power of music was needed in all institutions serving the senior population around the world.

Prescription Music began training the dedicated individuals who work with those in their care to be able to create a customized therapeutic music program in their facilities.   The on line service was created to provide the training tools and music needed to meet this demand.

Steven Toll, B.S. Columbia University, Director of Prescription Music along with his wife Linda, a writer and researcher in the area of Alternative Therapies for seniors with dementia, formed the company Prescription Music.  Together they have developed a Therapeutic Music Model for use with Alzheimer's patients, along with complimentary assessment and measurement tools as well as an On Line Training and Music Subscription Service, which allow anyone to harness the healing power of music.

The importance of music has always been a critical element of Mr. Toll's life, which has inspired the development of programs for seniors as well as children. Mr. Toll is on the Speaker's Board for the National Alzheimer's Association and trains professional and family caregivers in the development of therapeutic music programs and conducts educational assembly programs for elementary and middle school students, which connect songs of America with themes in American History.

A classically trained violinist, guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter, as a teenager he attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, which afforded him an introduction to study with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Branching out musically from there, Mr. Toll was a student of world-renowned jazz pianist Gerald Butler. Currently, Steve Toll hosts a weekly npr radio program heard in various cities of the country and is available for workshops and seminars.
